Israel Rejects Pat Robertson

The price of inferring that the stroke that Israel's Prime minister Sharon suffered was punishment from God for withdrawing from Gaza, is an end to their relationship.

Tourism Minister Abraham Hirchson gave instructions to "stop all contact" with groups associated with Robertson.

He said, "We will not do business with him, only with other evangelicals who don't back these comments," Hartuv said. "We will do business with other evangelical leaders, friends of Israel, but not with him."

Pat Robertson tried to make up for his remarks with a letter to Sharon's son, Omri.
In the letter he said, "My concern for the future safety of your nation led me to make remarks which I can now view in retrospect as inappropriate and insensitive in light of a national grief experienced because of your father's illness." He then went on to say, "I ask your forgiveness and the forgiveness of the people of Israel,"

So, is this letter a little too late to resurrect a Christian Heritage center that Robertson planned for Israel, complete with studios and tours? It would have broght millions to the Israel economy. Israel is smart enough to take money from a person who has shown his true thoughts of Arial Sharon by his comments. They need the money, but not bad enough to take it from an enemy.

Robertson seems to have foot-in-mouth disease. In the last year, he has made inappropriate remarks, which he then has to retrack or apologize for. Wouldn't it be easier to think before he spoke, and think of the ramifications of the remark. How do you unshoot an arrow? You can't. He has shown himself to be thoughtless, merciless, and just mean spirited. The remarks he made he considered to be to his friend. Who wants a friend who thinks they are being damned by God?

Maybe Israel has the answer to the Robertson problem. They cut him off. If only Americans would get smart enough to do that.

i came here because i couldn't leave a comment on the american chronicle website carrying your article on james frey and the smoking gun website (TSG). your casting aspersion on the motives of TSG in running the story were wholly unnecessary.

i found your comments quite extraordinary. if you read the article on their website they say exactly why they investigated frey. in any event they are investigative journalists and it's no less malicious than if the ny times had broken the story.

oh by the way in the article above, the word should be retract, not retrack.
