Are You Holding Your Dreams Down Because of Self Worth?

For the last few weeks I have been thinking about opportunities. They seem to come constantly, but, like others, I sometimes fail to see them or take advantage of them. Why is that?

I am not just talking about "once in a lifetime" stuff, but things to get me closer to my goal to be a media empire. Yes, that is the goal. Not in the Oprah sense of the word, but using the talents I have to grow a publishing company and leverage the Internet TV/Radio channels and blogs I have.

Then it occurred to me that in some ways I had not been sold on the idea that I could be a mogul. I mean come on, a daughter of an alcoholic and convicted felon, who has been on my own since I was 15, who was I to think that I could be what I wanted.

I was great with ideas, but horrid with execution. I could do it for you in a heartbeat, but for myself, uh, no. Then I looked at some of the opportunities I have had, and even I have to admit there must be a purpose for them. Actually a friend of mine had me write a list of things I had done in just one year which completely staggered me.

So, the question is are there opportunities which you are letting slip by because you don't think you are good enough to really take advantage of them? Are you playing "less than" because it is easier than taking on the challenge to bring about the dream you hold in your heart?

Don't let me give you the impression that changing your thinking is easy, but it has to be at the foundation. Who YOU think you are and what you are capable of will ultimately be behind the choices and decisions you make. So, you have a decision to make. You can stay as you are with your dreams taunting you or you can get hold of who you are and go after it.
