Five Steps To Finding Your Passion

For decades I have agonized over what my purpose is in the world. In my younger days it was referred to as a calling, and today, it is considered your passion.

Whatever the semantics, the outcome is the same; total confusion. What is it that makes me excited to wake up every day, or where I lose time doing? I am not alone, and the experts don’t really help.

The experts will tell you that you have to follow your passion, while others say doing so will make you broke. So, what do we do?
  • 1.       Try different things. There is no written rule that you have to be sold out to an idea forever.
  • 2.       Follow your intuition: We can ask other people all day long what is the right choice for us, but at the end of the day, only we know.
  • 3.       Step outside your comfort zone: It’s very easy to stay with what we know, but if we are to get ideas, we have to be willing to stretch ourselves.
  • 4.       Get good mentors: In this age, we have access via the Internet, books, and social networks to the people we want to learn from.
  • 5.       Get some skills: As you get into new experiences, you will gain new skills. Those skills could help move you towards your passion.

Never be afraid because you don’t know your passion. As the old proverb says, “when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” The same holds true for what you want to do with your life. Also, as you grow, it might change. That’s not a reason for uncertainty or feeling lost, but proof that you are growing.
